DNS inspection
DIG is the quickest way to check which records a name is returning and whether DNS is the source of the problem.
Use it for propagation checks, record verification, mail-routing review, and troubleshooting cases where the application is fine but the name resolution is not.
Typical checks
- A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, and TXT record review.
- Comparing answers from different resolvers.
- Confirming whether a change has propagated.
Visual review path
DNS checks are easier to explain when the surrounding route or region is also clear.
Repeatable checks matter when a DNS change is moving through multiple resolvers.
Good companion pages
Use DIG with TRACEROUTE when the problem may involve both routing and DNS, or with Support if the result needs interpretation.
